CASE STUDY – ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND
Planning progress towards achieving Disability Discrimination Act compliance and a programme for further required actions.
Background
RBS Corporate HR department sought expert interim support to co-ordinate, monitor, support and ensure the Group’s compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act.
Approach
Working closely with the Group Head of Diversity, diversity teams, Senior Managers of RBS businesses and HR Business Partners, a picture was established of current compliance status, what plans were in place, and an estimation of work still required. Briefing and strategy papers for the Group HR Director and Group CEO were produced, assessing the likelihood of achieving appropriate levels of progress in line with legislative requirements. Worked closely with businesses to set objectives and review ongoing progress and share best practice.
During the assignment a number of other tasks were completed including;
- development of a “Diversity Dashboard’ - metrics and measures to assess efficacy of Group’s Diversity policies and procedures.
- Completely revised and updated Group diversity policies
- Planned and initiated a major diversity data review and update across the RBS Group
Result
A plan determining the Group’s current levels of Disability Discrimination Act compliance, progress towards achieving compliance and any further required actions was produced for Head of Diversity. This was disseminated to the various HR Business Partners to implement across their respective businesses.
