CASE STUDY: Small to medium sized enterprises
Wildcat One helps to turn round small companies.
Background
Many companies reach a critical stage where they need to change to survive and move the business forward. Wildcat One provided business and human resource consultancy advice to a number of small businesses in the arts & leisure sector.
First steps
Wildcat One undertook a full diagnostic analysis of the company concerned to assess the critical areas for action, relative strengths, weaknesses and potential opportunities key to saving the business.
The solution
Wildcat One provided advice on issues such as restructuring, streamlining and critical skill requirements, as well as the resources and processes needed for rapid business improvement. Advice to boards and directors was provided on management capabilities and whether changes were needed at senior level to revive the business and ensure sustainability. Solutions included:
- The reassignment of an MD to Development Director role, facilitating the appointment of a CEO with the necessary business and commercial skills.
- Advising on the restructuring of a key company function to improve sales and customer focus.
- The removal of a general manager who had been over promoted and the appointment of an experienced interim general manager.
- Comprehensive review of staffing levels, working patterns, procedures and practices to reduce costs and radically improve performance.
Results
All companies have secured sufficient additional investment or funding to continue trading, and have since progressed to a stronger financial footing. Robust business plans are in place together with strong management structures and staff teams.
